15 Weeks

How the baby is growing:

This week Baby W measures 4 inches long, about the size of an apple, and weighs two and one half ounces!
How I am changing:

The baby belly is steadily growing making my clothing tighter and tighter. I still have one pair of shorts I can button and one pair of very stretchy jeans but that's about it! I am trying to buy more maternity clothes and pretty soon I will make the full transition. Right now I am still wearing the belly band with my regular work pants and shorts that wont button. I have started wearing some maternity tops as I am finding I am no longer fitting into many of my regular tops due to a certain growth spurt...if you know what I mean! Thankfully I do have several looser fitting tops that should help me get through at least the next month or two!

This week was pretty good in terms of nausea and sickness....until Memorial Day Monday. Unfortunately I had not one, not two but three bouts of sickness that ended in me not getting to enjoy homemade fried chicken and squash casserole for dinner! Not fair! My appetite is pretty much the same as last week. All I really want to eat is carbs! Bland boring carbs. Not very exciting. I try to make sure to eat fruits and veggies to keep Baby W healthy but honestly its a struggle. I don't even want Brussels Sprouts! (I happen to LOVE Brussels Sprouts even though everyone else in the world thinks they are awful...they just don't cook them right!)

I saw the doctor again Thursday for my monthly check up. Everything looked good. Baby W's little heart is still beating away at 162 beats per minutes! Still on the fast end. Eric has decided that Baby W is actually a boy because all the signs point to a girl! Who knows! We will find out in about 5 weeks!

This weekend we are going to a birthday party for a friend's one year old. I can't wait to give all of our friends babies a new buddy to play with!

14 Weeks

How the baby is growing:

This week Baby W measures 3 1/2 inches, about the size of a lemon, and weighs half an ounce!

How I am changing:

Eric and I decided that I have definitely "popped"! Most of my pants wont button so I bought belly bands to help me through the clothes transition because I don't quite fit into maternity clothes just yet. I did make my first maternity clothing purchases this week though and I'm excited to start wearing them soon!

Although my nausea has seriously calmed down in the last couple weeks I still feel really sick right when I wake up in the mornings. Unfortunately I still have to take the Zophran most mornings in order to make it to work! I usually feel better after a few hours though, which is a vast improvement! I have had a few random daytime sickness episodes...pulling the car over on the interstate to be sick...not fun...sorry Eric, but they seem to be few and far between! I'm still very tired and the headaches and the indigestion come and go. I'm just waiting for that second trimester burst of energy I keep hearing about!

My appetite still isn't quite back to normal. I typically want bland boring foods and stay away from extra flavorful spicy dishes like Mexican. I have had a few random cravings...like doughnuts or fruit loops but nothing too crazy! Most of the time nothing really sounds that good to me...hopefully that will pass soon!  According to my scale I am still down a few pounds, our next doctors appointment is this Thursday so we will know for sure then.

Happy Mother's Day!

(yesterday!)

I thought it was pretty fitting that I am exactly 12 weeks pregnant on my first ever Mother's Day. No I don't have a baby boy or baby girl to hold in my arms this Mother's Day but I am a mother. There is a little one inside me that is my child and it reminds me it is there every single day. They say that a woman becomes a mother the day she finds out she is pregnant and a man becomes a dad the day the child is born. I get that. And I don't fault the men out there for not truly feeling like a father until the baby is out in the world. But to me this was a pretty special day, not only because it is technically my first Mother's Day, but also because it is the first Mother's Day in the last 6 years that I actually got to spend with my mother. We had an amazing day doing all sorts of fun and girly things. We got mani/pedis, we shopped (checked out some maternity wear, eek!) and we saw a girly movie. It was perfect!
